70th Independence Day Celebration Ceremony by PM Narendra Modi 2016

After a long struggle the Indians got wings to fly from Britishers, and that day announced as Independence Day.
On August 15th 1947, the English man left the India. It is very important day for Indians.And that day there is a national holiday in India.
Many freedom fighter fought for this Independence Day.On 15 August 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru, who had become the first Prime Minister of India that day,
raised the Indian national flag above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi.
On each subsequent Independence Day, the prime minister has raised the flag and given a speech to the people.

What happens at Flag Hoisting in New Delhi ?

  • SHRI NARENDRA MODI ON THIS 15TH AUGUST 2016. On each august 15th, there is flag hoisting ceremonies in all over the India, after that parades and events are going ti held on the morning of that day.
  • Indians will celebrate the day by displaying flag on their homes, by listening to patriotic songs,and watching patriotic movies.
  • During the flag hoisting celebrations,many tasks are performed in new Delhi such as march past are performed by the Indian army men.
  • Independence Day is the great day for Indian people as India got freedom at this day from the British rule after years of slavery.There are lots of struggles and sacrifices.Many of freedom fighters lost their life for the precious day.
  • A big celebration event is organized by the government of India at the Rajpath, India Gate in the National Capital, New Delhi where people of all religion.
  • culture and tradition gather to listen the patriotic speech of our Prime Minister. 


  • By celebrating this event we commemorate those all great people who had sacrificed their lives and loved ones in making India an Independent country.
  • All the people irrespective of their caste, look and creed celebrate this day every year amidst great rejoicing. It is declared a public holiday. 
  • On this day we take a pledge to defend our freedom with all our might. 
  • The foreign ambassadors and dignitaries also participate in the celebrations. The prime minster unfurls the national flag. 
  • A guard of honor is given by the local police and armed forces personnel. A salute of 21 guns is fired. The military band plays the national anthem. 
  • The Prime Minister greets the ambassadors seated at the parapet and delivers a speech.
  • The Independence Day is celebrated all over the country with great joy. It is debatable whether the joy is deep-rooted or it is just a customary practice. 
  • How many people feel in the country that their lot has improved. People hold meetings, fly the tricolor and sing the National Anthem. 

It is not only in India but Indians all over the world celebrate it.

            With the anti-partition movement of 1905 against the partition of Bengal, the cry for freedom began to gather momentum.
The arrival of Mahatma Gandhi in the political scene of India in 1919, his three mass movements of 1920, 1930 and 1942, the failed attempt of Indian National Army under Subhash Chandra Bose,
international backing of the Indian cause etc., all culminated in forcing the British to leave India on Aug. 15, 1947. On this historic day,
Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister unfurled the national tricolour from the ramparts of Red Fort, ushering a new India.
Every year since then India has been celebrating its independence day on Aug. 15 with great rejoicing and pomp.

IMPORTANCE OF FLAG:

National Flag of India


      The National flag contains three colors of deep saffron, white and india green, there is wheel called Ashoka chakra having 24-spoke wheel in navy blue at the center of the flag.
The flag is designed by PINGALI VENKAYYA. The flag is made of khaadi and special type of hand spun cloth.
